The Best Types of Futon Mattress

The Best Futon Mattress Ever Made

If you are looking for a really comfortable futon mattress, then I have the answer for you. I have been sleeping on futons since my student days when there were the only affordable beds. As a result I have owned and slept on some fairly horrific mattresses. I remember one of my early buys, which was uncomfortable by the end of the first night!

It was a lack of finances which originally attracted me to the futon, now I can afford to choose my bed, and I am still sleeping on them. The reason for this is simple – they are a great design and with the right mattress a futon give the most amazing nights sleep.

Firstly, let me start with saying that for my main bed rooms I always have a fixed bed futon (that is one which doesn’t convert into a sofa) – these are now often called platform beds. I still have futon sofa beds in the kids play room for extra sleeping when their friends come to stay, but otherwise I go for a platform bed.

The important thing for me is the mattress. The original mattresses I had used to compact and get very uncomfortable; not only did they become hard, but they were also lumpy. I now have the best futon mattress.

I am a big believer in natural. I don’t like the idea of sleeping on a mattress made out of synthetic materials. I know that these are very advances, but when you sleep you think that this is the best chance that our bodes get to truly rest and recuperate you realise quite how important your bed and mattress are.

One of the things which does really bother me about modern mattresses is the flame retardant which is put on them. I fully understand that this is essential for reducing house fires, but at the same time I personally don’t want to sleep on a mattress steeped in chemicals.

So here are the details of my perfect mattress. It has a natural rubber interior, may sound odd at first, but it is there to create support around which the padding is attached. The next layers are wool. This creates the primary padding. Finally there is quilted cotton covered with a damask cotton outer layer. This mattress offers support as well as comfort and it is completely natural. The final thing which keeps me going back to this company is that they do not use any chemicals in the treatment of their mattresses.

NUTRITIONAL INSTITUTETM Organic Futons have nothing in common with the typical futons made by other manufacturers. That’s because our futons are ultra-comfortable (NOT uncomfortable like most futons) and they’re completely natural and chemical-free . The secret that makes our futons so comfortable lies in the two-inch natural rubber core, which is surrounded by multiple layers of 100 percent organic carded-cotton batting. It has an organic cotton cover that is quilted with wool, which lends flame-retardant and dust-mite-repellent properties, not to mention luxurious comfort. Use it as a sofa, a mattress or both!
